Genius Recommend
Our recommendations platform provides a rich tool for promoting content to users that is both contextually and personally relevant. Designed solely for TV related content, the engine has been optimised over the last three years to ensure the best possible relevance to viewers.
Recommendations can be based either upon a single show; a set of shows, such as a list of recordings in the PVR; user profiles or personal ratings, and the engine will automatically filter content according to what is most readily available to the user, what other users are watching, and commercial considerations such as price or special promotions. Recommendations are entirely based on content-to-content recommendations, and are powered by the TV Genius relevance engine that includes bespoke metadata analysis, collaborative filtering, and bayesian analysis. Recommendations can also be targeted according to the type of content to be recommended: scheduled content, premium channels, on demand or catch-up.

Key features
- Contextual recommendations – recommendations can be contextually included alongside individual shows, or a list of shows, such as a recordings list, making recommendations for other scheduled shows or video on demand.
- Personal Recommendations – personal recommendations can be made based on a set of favourite shows, show rating, or by profiling the user’s viewing habits.
- Commercial promotions – recommendations can be targeted at content that is more commercially valuable, for example premium channels or video-on-demand. Specific promotions for individual content items can also be set up, encouraging take-up of individual shows or series.
- Targeted advertising – advertising that is typically brought around one of two individual shows can be extended to other shows that are closely related to the target show, broadening the reach of advertising campaigns and increasing relevant inventory
